Today the word "minimalist" is often used to describe a wide range of topics from art, to fashion, to architecture, to interior design, to a way of life.Minimalism is popularly welcomed by the young generations, specially the city dwellers. 

Emerged in the late 1950s, minimalism was to celebrate the art movement. Product designers are particularly affected in terms of simple aesthetics and practical function. Genres of Minimalism is now developed into two adapted styles: Nordic and Japanese Zen. The intention purpose of the minimalism idea was originally advocates to simplify the picture with very little colour or patterns, and earases any traces of emotion or intuitive judgment. However, artists did not form a unified concept of minimalism, nor did they unify the declaration or form a group. It's hard to trace back the origins.

While nobody knows the exact origin of the minimalism history, the concept now widely used in every aspects from art, fashion, architecture and anything as long as relative to design. The reason why Minimalism is so popular and widely spread is all about its inclusiveness for adpating any cultures. The two mainstreams minimalism, the western and oriental, are presenting their own brilliance.
